"On Gaza, I support an immediate ceasefire, a massive increase in aid, the release of hostages and accountability for implementing the ICJ provisional recommendations. I want to see the path to a two-state solution revived with a fully recognised Palestinian state achieved as soon as possible, not just at the end of a lengthy process. This commitment was reinforced in the Labour Party manifesto which states “Palestinian statehood is the inalienable right of the Palestinian people. It is not in the gift of any neighbour and is also essential to the long-term security of Israel.” However challenging it may be, it is the UK’s moral duty to work with our international partners to achieve sustainable peace.
I've worked my entire career in international development, open government and anti-corruption - so I care deeply about human rights and tackling poverty. It's clear to me that the suffering of the innocent people of Gaza is an affront to those values, as are the long-standing indictments of corruption against Benjamin Netanyahu. It's also why we need change so desperately in this country and in our area. If we want to tackle the housing crisis, make work pay, implement real climate change policies, and rebuild our NHS then we need a Labour government and a Labour MP in Kensington & Bayswater. Any other vote risks five more years of Conservative government and five more years of a Tory MP for our community."
