The Conservatives support a two state solution. Their position is that Palestine should not be recognised yet; but should be at a time ‘most useful to the peace process’. The Conservatives state that settlements are illegal under international law and an obstacle to peace.The Conservatives do not support calls to boycott trade with Israel. The coalition government is ’concerned’ about the situation in Gaza and has pledged £20m towards the Gaza reconstruction mechanism.

Challenges for Syrian refugees in Jordan and the work of UK NGOs

On 23 March, Dr Abigael Baldoumas, Oxfam's Regional Research and Policy Coordinator for the Middle East, and Amal Kaoua, Senior Conflict and Humanitarian Adviser at Save the Children delivered a briefing on the challenges for Syrian refugees in Jordan and the work of UK NGOs to the All Party Parliamentary Jordan Group and Caabu in the House of Commons.

An Early Day Motion (EDM) put down in Parliament on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling for UK politicians to be granted access, has reached 100 signatures.

The EDM has been signed by 101 MPs making it one of the most supported international motions this session.
