Takreem Award 2010

Winners of Takreem award

Caabu won a major new award for 'Exceptional International Contribution to Arab Society' in Beirut in 2010.

The award was a very welcome recognition of Caabu's efforts and success over the past four decades and was a testament to the hard work and dedication of hundreds of people over the years, including staff, board members and supporters.

Delegations

A major aspect of Caabu’s parliamentary work involves taking delegations of politicians out to the Middle East, in order for them to develop a better understanding of the region and its key issues.

Director calls for urgent ceasefire on BBC News

Speaking to the BBC on the 28th July, Caabu Director Chris Doyle

Firstly expressed concern that the British Prime Minister has still failed to call for the immediate cessation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanon.  Stresses the urgency of an effective ceasefire between Hizbollah and Israel.

Secondly, states that the more casualties there are on both sides, the harder it will be to procure such a ceasefire. With every casualty sustained on each side, anger and hatred increases, making it more difficult for the right conditions to achieve a sustainable peace.

Blair is no help to the Middle East - Guardian

Having finally obtained his visa from George Bush to visit the Middle East, Tony Blair must rank as one of the most unwelcome British visitors to the region in decades (Report, September 11). This visit is too late for those Lebanese and Palestinians whose lives have been destroyed because he failed to stand up for the sort of civilised values that we in Britain used to respect and fight for.
