British Parliamentarians criticise UK abstention on Jerusalem at the UN

On 1 December the UK abstained on an annual UN General Assembly Resolution on Jerusalem. Hitherto the British position had always been in favour.  The following group of cross party politicians have signed this statement expressing their concern for what this means for UK's position on future of the city, its holy places and any future peace process.

In an interview with Al Jazeera English, Caabu Director Chris Doyle argues that the move will have little impact given that the government had already a no-contact policy with Hamas and its military wing had been proscribed since 2001. 

European Parliamentarians urge action on Israeli Government over attacks on Palestinian civil society, forced dispossession and illegal settlements

Numerous European parliamentarians (including in the UK) who form part of the European Parliamentarians for Israeli-Palestinian Equality, a network of those from various European parliaments of 17 countries and the European Parliament which meets regularly and cares passionately about advancing equality, justice and rights for Israelis and Palestinians, have written to their respective Foreign Ministers (including to UK Foreign Secretary Elizabeth Truss) and the European Union's High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borell. 

Palestinian NGOs brief UK parliamentarians on Israeli attacks on Palestinian civil society

The Britain-Palestine All Party Parliamentary Group hosted an online briefing on Monday 8 November which discussed the attacks on Palestinian civil society - hearing from three of the six Palestinian civil society organisations designated by Israel on 22 October. Also on the call were representatives from other international and UK human rights organisations who have worked with the organisations concerned.

Israeli Government’s attacks on six Palestinian civil society groups must be resisted

16 UK-based humanitarian, development, human rights and faith organisations working to support the rights and welfare of the Palestinian people condemn the Israeli Government’s shocking decision to declare six Palestinian civil society groups as ‘terrorist organisations’. We call on the International Community to publicly reject this move to obstruct the essential work of these organisations, and to continue supporting them.
