Working with refugees in Doliana Camp by Edmund Walton

I arrived in Doliana, a small village on the border between Albania and Greece, in September 2016. The village was once a thriving town of 3000 people and a local hub, but over the last four decades work has become harder and harder to find in the region and a steady stream of villagers has been leaving for Australia, Germany and Athens. Today, only a few hundred people still live in Doliana full time.

Syrian refugees in Lebanon this winter

by Chris Doyle

9 January 2017

At the end of 2016, 1,017,433 Syrian refugees were registered with the UN in Lebanon.  To put this in perspective, around one in four people in Lebanon ae Syrian refugees.

The conditions are incredibly tough.  Syrian refugees are not permitted to work in Lebanon and many have been there for over four years.  This is no longer an emergency issue but a long term crisis.
