Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher asks Security Council Members if they will "act decisively to prevent genocide and ensure respect for international humanitarian law"
On 13 May 2025, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher briefed the Security Council, and he asked, “For those killed and those whose voices are silenced: what more evidence do you need now? Will you act – decisively - to prevent genocide and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law? Or will you say instead, 'we did all we could?’”.
He called on the international community to reflect on what it will tell future generations about what it has done “to stop the 21st century atrocity to which we bear daily witness in Gaza.”
