There has been a dramatic escalation of human rights violations of Palestinians in incarceration. Already, a minimum of 7 Palestinians (that organisations know of) have died in Israeli Prison Service settings and in military bases. PHRI have published a report entitled Systematic Violation of Human Rights: The Incarceration Conditions of Palestinians in Israel Since October 7, which provides an in-depth look into these human rights violations.
This report is based on tens of individual cases of Palestinians who have suffered either violence, denial of medical treatment and/or inhumane living conditions. In many cases, this constitutes CIDT and torture.
The issue of Palestinians in detention has not received much international attention, and bearing in mind the Israeli authorities refusal of ICRC visits, the Britain-Palestine APPG will be hosting this briefing and another on the issue of Palestinian detainees.
