Write to your MPs on Lebanon

We need you to write once again to your MPs on Lebanon demanding an end to Israeli impunity.

Entering its third week now, Israel's renewed aggression and bombing of Lebanon has killed at least 1,072 people and injured 2,966 more. Over 1 million people have now been forcibly displaced from their homes, particularly in the south of Lebanon, and Beirut's southern suburbs. That's 20% of the total population.

You can find your MP here.See this video on why the UK needs to take action from Caabu's Head of Parliamentary Affairs Joseph Willits here.

Israel has begun a ground offensive in the south, has continued with its destruction of villages, homes, and bridges south of the Litani River to ethnically cleanse Lebanese from their homes and communities, and occupying and isolating the south, disconnecting it from the rest of the country.

The Gaza playbook used throughout the genocide against Palestinians is becoming ever more apparent in Lebanon. This includes the killings of 42 healthcare workers (injuring 119 others) and attacks on 128 medical facilities, the destruction of vital civilian water, sanitation, electricity and transport infrastructure, and the unlawful use of white phosphorous in residential areas.

The Israeli government has used similar genocidal language and promises of annexation and forced displacement about Lebanon that it used against Palestinians in Gaza. On 5 March, Israel's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that “very soon, Dahieh [Beirut’s southern suburb] will look like Khan Younis,” in Gaza. On 22 March,Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, issued a statement announcing that he and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have “ordered the acceleration of the demolition of Lebanese houses in the border villages in order to thwart threats to Israeli communities - in accordance with the Beit Hanoun and Rafah models in Gaza.” On March 16, 2026, Katz said that “hundreds of thousands of Shiite residents of southern Lebanon […] will not return to their homes south of the Litani area until the safety of Israel’s northern residents is guaranteed.”

The UK says it supports Lebanon, and yet fails to adequately condemn Israeli plans to annex sovereign Lebanese territory south of the Litani river, and is further contributing to the culture of impunity that exists for Israel. Condemnation has never been enough, and there needs to be serious consequences for such grave violations, including further sanctions.

UK actions could include:

  • To impose further sanctions on Israel in the event of annexation and occupation of south Lebanon (although further sanctions could already be placed given Israeli actions in Palestine)
  • A demand for a full and permanent ceasefire with immediate effect - a ceasefire that is actually adhered to
  • A full withdrawal of Israeli forces from all of Lebanon and an end to Israeli occupation in Lebanese territory, allowing for people to return to their homes
  • Stronger UK government positions given the extensive violations of international law and war crimes carried out by Israel in Lebanon, including the targeted attacks on healthcare workers and facilities, the use of white phosphorous over residential areas, and the deliberate destruction of water and sanitation facilities and other critical civilian infrastructure

We are asking you, as Caabu supporters, to write to your MP with these demands. We need to continue pressure on the government to ensure that international law and human rights are upheld across the board, including for people in Lebanon, and is not implemented selectively.
