Caabu fundraising appeal: Help us lobby for a free Gaza in a free Palestine

Caabu fundraising appeal: Help us lobby for a free Gaza in a free Palestine

British public and political opinion is shifting on Palestine over Gaza. Caabu needs your help to keep up the momentum to maintain massive pressure on the British Government.

Caabu’s members, supporters, board and staff have been working tirelessly to push for justice for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. We have continued to lobby the British Government, not least in meetings with ministers and officials. We have held numerous briefings on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and have maintained an active media presence. The fruits of our important delegations programmewere evident in a Parliamentary debate, where 13 MPs who had been to Palestine with Caabu spoke, including former Foreign Secretary Jack Straw MP and former Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell MP.

We need your support. For the rest of 2014, we are planning to organise and focus on Gaza in a major advocacy push, including:

  • A major public talk on Gaza.
  • A nationwide speaking tour to highlight the plight of those in Gaza to the UK.
  • A substantial report on Gaza in a similar vein to our report on Palestinian detainees in Israel prisons.
  • A joint lobby of Parliament.
  • Briefings ahead of Foreign Affairs Questions.
  • A focus on civilian suffering and bringing about an end to the occupation.

With your help we will be able to achieve this.

A large section of the British public has been outraged by the Government’s position on Gaza. A rare rift in British politics has emerged, with the Government and opposition at odds over the crisis. Cameron’s position has been condemned by the Labour party who opposed an Israeli ground invasion, and the Liberal Democrats have demanded an end to arms sales to Israel. Discontent about the Government’s position on Gaza from within the Conservative party is also incredibly significant, and is increasing.

Building on this, with your support, we can help achieve a British policy that pushes for:

  • Accountability.
  • End of arms trade with Israel.
  • An end to the blockade and occupation.
  • For Egypt to open Rafah crossing.
  • A ban on EU trade with Israeli settlements.

Caabu has focused on the history of Israeli aggression. This is the fourth major military operation since 2006. Our work really is more important than ever.

If you are six years old in Gaza, this is already your third war. Our aim is to make sure there is not a fourth. Thank you very much for your continued support.
